" Namaste! I am so sorry not have answered so late cos i was busy with my exam of french language. I hope that you are so curious about my comments on this speech. yes, i am so sensitive with this speech. Onething, Nepal is labour country. Naturally,Nepalese are hard working. Many nepalese are in abroad to have job.
Also we don’t have more manturing productions, industries so on.Life in nepal is so real chaotic. It’s the real situation in Nepal which created by the time and unbalance politics. So concerning the porters in mountain except carry they can’t get any source to earn and it’s not enough to survive only little source of farming which depends on rainy water no facilities of irrigation.
That’s why even people who got already master degree here in Nepal can’t get proper engagement in job. So they can go in trekking with carrying more than 30 kg. Also they can collect good experiences about tours and tourism business which will help him in his future career so you can take it such way that not only to earn also they could able to have extra knowledge about tourism career.
Yes, there’s a rule and regulation of tourism a porter who can carry only 30 kg but some agencies in Nepal they charge less money with clients and try to give good service and creats such case sometime by the way. also it can be that, company will estimate 30 kg for a porter but some guides who want to earn more money they can take less porters than estimated by company. That’s why it can be more than 30-50 kg for a porter. Yes i agree with this point, it’s porter exploitation. But here not almost but some they don’t follow the law of children and porter exploitation,it’s their guilty.
But when i organize the trip i just give 20kg for a porter in tea house trek, i mean two bag packs for a porter and 30 kg in camping organize trek. yes we would like to give very good equipments, foods, accomodations for porters as well all stops but clients they can’t pay which we offer the price and program. But it’s true that every clients are not same status and paying ability. so we have to manage plan according to paying category, service grade sometime so it’s not only our responsible.
In alst, in my opinion, i think that writer of the speech have been trip somewhere in Nepal with such guides( i mentioned before) who want to earn more money. That’s why he/she could able to see such case probably and he prepared a reporting about it. Ok, friend so i can’t feel that tourism in Nepal is slave system anyway. What do you think about my comments with this speech. I hope to hear from you positive response more about it. Take care and wish you all the best.
With warmest regards,
Chhetup Tamang. "
