Sorry for not speaking italian. I would like to have some information about the NW face of the Gran Paradisio. It seems to be skiable. What kind of difficulty is-it ? steepness ?

45-50 degrees, with a couple of short slopes steeper (55 degrees) mainly on the upper part (close to the serac).
Eventually you’d better climb the N face carring your skis then from the top decide to go down from there or along the normal path. Notice that you ought to sleep in Chabod shelter and not at Vittorio emanuele.

yes Nat, I confirm you S6 but in good conditions of snow it might seem to be an S5 very exposed.
the alpine classification of the climb is D, so it is equivalent to an S6 if you can understand french look here http://www.ffme.fr/ski-alpinisme/cotation/echelle-volo.htm.

A great enchainments : rif. V. Emanuele - G.Paradiso - down by East face ( while you’re waiting for the sun on the NW face )( 500m. 45°/50°/40°) - up to G.Paradiso - down to NW face. Total : 1200m. vert. drop of great ski . Of course you need a good acclimatation to altitude .

I don’t have last minute’s news , but I think that it’s still good skiing from 2500m. up to 4000m.
