In snow season, access to Gauli directly from the valley is not recommended, highly exposed to avalanches. It is better to come through a mountain pass like the Oberbachlilicken, between Gross Diamantstock and Bachlistock, quite difficult with about 30-50 m of rocks (rappel may be useful).
Call the hut warden, Kathi Fluhmann, she usaully open her refuge during ski season, she is also a mountain guide and a very good host. The caban itself is very cosy , although quite dificult to find in bad weather.
