I dont speak very well french so I hope you excuse me for writing in english. I planning to go to Luminy to study next year, Is the climbing good there troughout the whole season? Is it alot of climbers living in Luminy or do you think it will be hard finding someone to climb with?
I’m from sweden so I’m hopping to combine some studies with climbing. Here we can only climb crags between may- early october…

You can climb in the calanques nearly all the year, the worse season is the summer: the weather is too hot, and there is access restriction from mi-june to mi-september …

Luminy is for sure the best « base camp » to climb in the calanques. It is the start of the path leading to the main calanques’ crags like Paroi des Toits, l’oasis, Grotte de l’Ours, pierres tombées, la Candelle or even la Concave. the best season is definitely autumn and winter. From April/May it begins to be very hot and there are very few crags in the shade. In summer most of the calanques are closed because of fire risk. But in summer you’ d better go to the beach…

In the sumer, better go to the beach… or find a nice car and drive to Orpierre (1h), le Beauchet (1.5 h), Ceuse (1.5h)… Om du vill prova lite klättring i Sydfrankrike, da kan vi förställa dig nagra skit bra klipparna. Sckicka ett mail bara. Tja!
